The Rifle Brigade Hotel takes its name from the Bendigo Volunteer Rifle Brigade, whose barracks were situated in View street where the Bendigo Art Gallery now stands. The two storey Rifle Brigade Hotel as it is now, replaced a single storey wooden hotel in 1887. A later additional was the balcony and veranda that still stands grand and tall. In 1986, the hotel was renovated and the Micro Brewery was added, which then led to winning a Victorian Tourism Award.
Much memorabilia and historical photos of the Rifle as well as Bendigo remain on the walls, so you can enjoy a historical tour of this grand hotel while enjoying many a quiet ale…
